Things my friends and I have been discussing recently -

1) Follow the Finger - lame ad campaign by Butterfinger, carefully disguised as a website for play

2) The demonstrations in France - WTF? No one gets guarenteed employment for life, you putzes!

3) V for Vendetta - an excellent movie, although I’m kind of amazed they were allowed to simulate blowing up the Parliament building…good thing the original comic did not take place in the US…(yes I know they blew up the White House in Independence Day, but this was before 9-11)

4) Thai restaurants - they’re to Chicago what Chinese joints are to everywhere else: there’s one on every corner and they’re almost all fantastic (for good Chinese food, however, you have to go to Chinatown - there is no decent Chinese food to be found in Chicago outside of Chinatown)

5) Chicago vs. New York City - I’m stealing this comment from a friend of mine, I hope she doesn’t mind…New York City is very international and feels very for the world, whereas Chicago always has a local feeling to it wherever you go. I’m sure there are some New Yorkers who might disagree with me on this, I would welcome your comments (but I think this is the central reason I always feel more comfortable in Chicago, because even though it contains a very diverse set of people, it still feels very local, whereas New York just feels uber-cosmopolitan and international).

So, there you go.

The best thing about going to gay bars is not that I don’t have to worry about getting hit on by strange men, it’s that they’re the only places I don’t have to wait in line for the women’s room.
